Biotechnology could cut C02 sharply, help build green economy - WWF Report (see also EuropaBio Press Release)
Industrial biotechnology has the potential to save the planet up to 2.5 billion tons of CO2 emissions per year and support building a sustainable future, a WWF report found.
EuropaBio welcomes this report and highlights the WWF’s assertion that the correct policies need to be put into place for these technologies to fulfill their potential and actively contribute to a sustainable low-carbon society.

  BP expects biofuels to replace 25% of gasoline in U.S.
World oil giant BP expects bio fuels to become a larger part of the U.S. motor fuel market, probably displacing 25 percent of gasoline in the U.S. in the next two decades, the head of BP's alternative energy unit said.

  Barroso pledges to create European Chief Scientist role
Europe is finally to get a Chief Scientist with a brief to provide advice across the Commission. José Manuel Barroso made the pledge to newly elected Members of the European Parliament in Strasburg on Tuesday, as they met to rubber-stamp the renewal of his presidency.
 
  New EU website goes live
The European Commission will today (21 September) launch a revamped version of its Europa website. After two years of analysis and review, the EU executive hopes its new central web portal will make for a simpler, more organised experience for EU citizens.
