Curriculum Vitae - Dr. Louis Vertegaal

 

Dr. Louis B.J. Vertegaal, born in 1962, studied Chemistry at Leiden University in the Netherlands

and got his PhD in 1991 on the thesis: "Studies on the Chemical and Biological Activities of the Fecapentaenes and related polyenol ethers". In that same year he started his work at the division of Chemical Sciences of the Dutch Research Council (NWO) of which he later became Deputy Director. In his work he focused on public-private partnerships and thematic strategic research programmes. In 2002 he became Director of ACTS and since July 2003 he is the Director of the division of Chemical Sciences of NWO as well. In addition, Dr. Vertegaal is currently chairman of the Executive Board of ACENET, member of the Executive Board of ERA-Chemistry, chairman of the Executive Board of CERC3, member of the Executive Board of the European Technology Platform “Sustainable Chemistry”, the Supervisory Board of IMPACT, the Supervisory Board of NRSCC, member of the Scientific Advisory Committee of HIMS, chairman of the Advisory Board of TREND, and observer of the Chemistry Committee of the Royal Dutch Academy of Science.
