GM cultivation ban in Italy challenged
An Italian court has ruled against the ministry of agriculture which refused a farmer the right to cultivate GMOs. According to the Court, the refusal was not lawful because the reasons given to the farmer were not valid. Neither the fact that Italy has no co-existence rules in place nor the fact that GMO cultivation is currently under review at European level are valid grounds. The court has tasked the ministry to look at the more than 100 pending requests for GMO cultivation again. Read more (IT).
