EuropaBio Event: The Benefits of Biotechnology - Launch of EuropaBio/Ernst & Young report
On 27 March EuropaBio held an open dialogue at the European Parliament to discuss the myths and the facts that surround the biotechnology sector and the ways in which our industry can provide useful ideas and products for the benefit society. The event was hosted by MEP Françoise Grossetête and was attended by approximately 120 people. Commissioner for Health and Consumer Policy John Dalli made the opening remarks and the event was concluded by Commissioner for Research, Innovation and Science, Máire Geoghegan-Quinn, who also launched the EuropaBio- Ernst & Young report: ‘What Europe has to offer biotechnology companies: Unraveling the tax, financial and regulatory framework’. During the event, attendees were encouraged to ask questions of the speakers, which included CEOs as well as civil society end-users, who discussed their first-hand experiences of the benefits that biotechnology has brought to their lives. Attendees were also encouraged to participate where possible- particularly by investigating biotech processes for themselves through the displays and scientific experiments that were on show.
