International invites business leaders, investors and development
experts to the EMRC AgriBusiness Forum 2008 on Africa's private
sector development. Brussels, Belgium -
The EMRC AgriBusiness Forum 2008 will take place at the FAO
Headquarters in Rome on 18-20 June. Organised by EMRC International
in collaboration with the United Nations Food and Agricultural
Organisation (FAO), the event aims at networking and showcasing
success stories in Africa's agriculture and food industry. To this
end, the EMRC AgriBusiness Forum 2008 will gather top-level
representatives from around 20 African countries as well as from
Europe, the USA and the Near East. In plenary sessions, workshops
and one-to-one business meetings participants will showcase
investment opportunities and latest developments in Africa's
agribusiness sectors.
Programme:
The EMRC AgriBusiness Forum 2008 is aimed at
building business bridges between entrepreneurs of the South and the
North. Throughout the three day programme top-level speakers from
agribusiness companies, governments and international organisations
will discuss business, finance and investment opportunities for
Africa's agro-food industry. Special workshops will be dedicated to
the role of telecommunications, post-harvest treatment and new
energies as growth potentials. Multinational companies,
international investors and banks as well as local enterprises will
present their innovative solutions for Africa's agriculture and food
industry.
The EMRC AgriBusiness Forum 2008 will pay
particular attention to one-to-one business meetings and
presentation possibilities of promising business projects. A key
moment of the forum will furthermore be dedicated to the
announcement of the EMRC AgriBusiness Awardees 2008 for outstanding
business successes and leadership. Detailed information on the

Participants:
Representatives from the public sector and
agribusiness community, financial institutions, national and
multilateral development agencies will join the EMRC Forum to find
their business opportunities in Africa's rising agricultural
economic development. By region, the event will gather participants
from Africa (50 %), from Europe (35 %) and from the rest of the
world (America, Middle East) (15 %).
Among the top-level participants will be
keynote speakers such as Dr Franz Fischler, EU Commissioner for
Agriculture and Rural Development 1995-2004, and Dr. Monty Jones,
General-Secretary of FARA (Forum for Agricultural Research in
Africa), co-recipient of the World Food Prize in 2004. Full
