Prof Howard Davies, of the James Hutton Institute and European Food Safety Authority, speaking at an Aberdeen University ‘Cafe Controversial’ meeting last week, said it was 'a big ask for growers to increase food production sustainably and cheaply, while having to limit their use of natural resources and have fewer tools in their toolkit as the European Union legislation banning some pesticides comes into play'.
