Gastro: soon a transgenic rice to calm diarrhea

Severe cases of diarrheal disease are caused by rotavirus. To neutralize the virus, researchers at the University of Tokyo have developed a transgenic rice capable of producing large quantities of antibodies fighting against inflammation of the intestines. This rice is thermally stable, soluble and resistant to the acid environment of the stomach.
