‘Wicked’ critics of GM crops blamed for children’s deaths

The Times reports on Owen Paterson’s claims in The Independent yesterday but also publishes a leading article claiming that ‘opposition to fracking and GM crops is anti-science and harmful to the world’s poor.’ The short analysis piece claims that Paterson’s remarks ‘are justified and his analysis is acute. For all their good intentions, [NGOs]…can threaten the welfare of people in developing countries and the environment itself through their dogmatism.’ The measure of success, the author argues, is impoverishment and hunger. Mr. Paterson’s comments are also published in The Daily Telegraph.
