"Europe à la carte?": Best of video
A flashback on the event on the GMO imports proposal.
In April 2015, the EU Commission presented a proposal to allow individual Member States to ban the use of imported GMOs on their territories on the basis of non-scientific criteria. EuropaBio organised the first high level event on this proposal. Contributors included Arūnas Vinčiūnas, the Head of Cabinet of the European Health and Food Safety Commissioner, farmers from Brazil and the U.S., representatives from the mission of Argentina, European farmers, feed industry and grain traders. Participants discussed the EU's dependency on GMO imports, how the proposal could affect international trade and what it could mean for Europe's internal market, as well as whether it sets a precedent that could spill over to other sectors.
At the event EuropaBio also launched a video showing the journey of Mr. Maize, a genetically modified maize from Brazil, and his quest to get imported into Europe.
