SUMMARY:The economic power of biotechnology for Europe
DESCRIPTION:The world is at a key point of industrial and societal transition\, driven by advancing technology and the need for competitive\, resilient and sustainable economies. \n\n\n\nBiotechnology is at the heart of this transition across all sectors and it is playing a significant role in shaping Europe’s future. \n\n\n\nEuropean Biotech Week kick starts with a look at how biotechnology performs in the European Union’s economy. \n\n\n\nProfessor Dennis Ostwald\, founder and CEO of the WifOR Institute presents the 2023 edition of EuropaBio’s ‘Measuring the economic footprint of the biotechnology industry in Europe’. Professor Ostwald showcases how biotechnology contributes across healthcare and industrial sectors in the light of Europe’s response to Covid\, global supply chains stressed further by the Russian invasion of Ukraine\, and at a time when Europe also has ambitious climate change goals. \n\n\n\nSpeakers: \n\n\n\nProfessor Dr. Dennis A. Ostwald. Through his studies\, Prof. Ostwald aims to make the importance of health innovations visible and enable evidence-based decision making for a healthy society. He conducts research on topics such as health economics\, the value of impacts\, and international social policy. Prof. Ostwald studied Industrial Engineering and Management at the Technical University of Darmstadt\, Germany and received his PhD from the Chair of Finance and Economic Policy\, Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Bert Rürup\, on the topic “Growth and employment effects of the healthcare industry”. As Professor of Economic Research and International Management at the Steinbeis School of International Business and Entrepreneurship (SIBE)\, he wants to develop young talents into responsible managers who understand the interplay between social\, environmental and economic sustainability.  \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nJoin EuropaBio to understand how biotechnology is increasing its role with Europe’s economy and discuss with Members what this means for sectors\, countries and citizens. \n\n\n\n\nRegister here
