SUMMARY:SME roundtable: Towards globally competitive European SMEs
DESCRIPTION:Europe is home to a vibrant community of Biotechnology SMEs contributing to the modernisation of the European industry. European biotechnology SMEs are the main drivers for innovation in healthcare\, food and feed\, industrial processes and manufacturing. \n\n\n\nThe Initiative on “Boosting Biotechnology and Biomanufacturing in the EU” published by the European Commission in March 2024 provides great prospects for EU SMEs. It highlights the EU ambition to deliver the benefits of biotechnology to support EU competitiveness and innovation alongside other global regions. One objective of the initiative is to identify ways to streamline EU legislation and its implementation to reduce Single Market fragmentation\, explore potential simplification of regulatory processes\, and shortening the time to market of biotechnological innovations. \n\n\n\nIn order to meet this objective\, EuropaBio\, the voice of biotechnology industries in Europe\, will be hosting this roundtable to work as partners with all relevant stakeholders to guarantee the success of this Initiative. This roundtable session aims to provide a discussion forum for SME participants active in the sector to share their main driving forces and obstacles to accessing global markets and supply chains. The session will explore the essential elements required to speed up EU market access of biotech products. \n\n\n\nThis event will be followed by a dedicated report exploring the sessions outcomes. \n\n\n\nFor more information\, contact: communications@europabio.org
