SUMMARY:KeyGene’s two-part webinar on PanGenomes: needs\, value and applications (part 1)
DESCRIPTION:This two-part webinar on PanGenomes\, which Keygene organizes together with an academic partner and Allen Sessions from BASF\, will explain what one needs to construct PanGenomes and highlight their value in breeding and research. PanGenomes describe the available genetic diversity within\, for instance\, plant species\, crops or germplasm collections. Because of diminishing costs of genome sequencing\, increasing speed of reference genomes construction and advances in bioinformatics\, PanGenomes have become an accessible tool. The genome insights delivered by PanGenomes can spectacularly speed up and contribute to plant breeding and research.

SUMMARY:#EUIndustryWeek2021: Bio4Products & Rehap
DESCRIPTION:Moving Towards a Competitive European Bioeconomy: Emerging Biorefinery Technologies & Pathways to Deployment \n\n\n\nFor Europe to move towards a competitive bioeconomy\, is it is essential that biorefinery technologies developed in the lab and at pilot scale are upscaled and deployed at an industrial scale. Industry and policy makers must work together to create commercial pathways to this greener future – but how? \n\n\n\nThis interactive event brings together researchers\, industry leaders and policy makers to discuss how the European bioeconomy can take green technology from idea to deployment and who needs to do what to make this happen. \n\n\n\nShort agenda: \n\n\n\n\n\n13:00 Introductions and keynote from the EU \n\n\n\n13:30 Technical sessions – project achievements Feedstock\, processes and new products Interactive session with audience Q&A \n\n\n\n15:00 Coffee break \n\n\n\n15:30 First panel session From idea to deployment – an industry view \n\n\n\n16:15 Second panel session Rollout of biorefinery technology – policy perspective \n\n\n\n\n\nThe event is organised by two EU-funded SPIRE projects\, Bio4Products and Rehap\, both successful in identifying biomass availability and developing innovative new conversion processes and bio-based products. The projects have received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreements number 723070 and 723670 respectively.

SUMMARY:nova Session: Renewable Polymers: Production and Trends 2020-2025 (Member Discount)
DESCRIPTION:The only way for chemicals and plastics to become sustainable\, climate-friendly and part of the circular economy is the complete substitution of fossil carbon with renewable carbon from alternative sources: biomass\, CO2 and recycling. Sold out PLA in 2019 has led to the installation of increased capacities in 2020\, PE and PP made from bio-based naphtha are breaking ground and future expansion for bio-based polyamides will come into place\, growth for bio-based polymers is expected to over 6 % until 2025. Additionally\, the use of CO2 as chemical feedstock for polymers has been intensively diversified. Besides the long-established use of CO2 for the synthesis of polycarbonates\, also polyurethanes can already be based on it. Optimised technology approaches in fermentation\, electrochemistry and catalysts for conversion are emerging and broaden the CO2-based polymer portfolio. \n\n\n\nGet the newest market developments for bio-based building blocks and polymers as well as the latest technology developments for CO2-based polymers. Join the nova Session and discuss with the experts. The nova-Institute invites to the nova Session “Renewable Polymers: Production and Trends 2020-2025” on 17 February\, 2021. The all-day workshop will be an online event. The workshop will focus on the market report “Bio-based Building Blocks and Polymers –Global Capacities\, Production and Trends 2020-2025” and the trend report “Carbon dioxide (CO2) as chemical feedstock for polymers – technologies\, polymers\, developers and producers” published in January. \n\n\n\nThe main authors of the report will participate in the workshop and discuss with you. The nova Session offers the unique opportunity to exchange information about current market and technology developments at the highest level. \n\n\n\nParticipants are welcome to submit their specific topics of interest beforehand or put them up for discussion at the session. \n\n\n\nEuropaBio members receive a 20% discount on the registration fee. Please contact Martina Cilia for more information. \n\n\n\n\nVISIT THE WEBSITE

SUMMARY:BIOKET 2021
DESCRIPTION:Register now\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nSecond International Conference on Cellulose Fibres\, the fastest growing fibre group in textiles\, the largest investment sector in the bio-based economy and the solution for avoiding microplastics\nWith 210 participants and 15 exhibitors from 26 different countries\, the “1st International Conference on Cellulose Fibres” in 2020 was a great success and exceeded all expectations. The trade press wrote: “nova-Institute hits the mark with new conference”. The focus of the conference was on markets\, technologies and sustainability – and especially alternative cellulose feedstocks. \nBuilding on this success\, the 2nd International Conference on Cellulose Fibres will again cover the entire value chain from the lignocellulosic feedstock\, dissolving pulp\, cellulose fibres – such as rayon\, viscose\, modal or lyocell and new developments\, to a wide range of applications\, woven textiles (clothing) and non-wovens (wipes and technical applications). All these sectors have significantly gained in dynamics over the last few years. \nCellulose fibres are a success story within the textiles market with a cumulated annual growth rate (CAGR) between 5 and 10% over the last ten years – similar growth rates are expected in the next decade. This makes cellulose fibres the fastest growing fibre group in the textile industry and also the largest investment sector in the bio-based economy worldwide. The challenge now is to achieve a balance between the ongoing capacity expansion and the growing demand – to avoid over capacities\, but also to cover the growing demand of the big brands.\nThe high growth rates are driven by the demand for natural fibres (and bottlenecks in cotton)\, the microplastic problem and possible bans for plastic fibres. All three drivers will continue to play a significant role in the future development of the sector. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVISIT WEBSITE
