Communications & Events Coordinator

EuropaBio, the voice of Europe’s dynamic biotech industry, is currently seeking a Communications & Events Coordinator to join its Brussels-based team. The role helps to lead the voice for biotechnology across sectors, including cutting edge healthcare and sustainable industrial products and processes.

The successful applicant will work from our offices on Avenue des Arts, in the heart of the EU district. Working as the lead person within the EuropaBio Communications team, alongside a Communications Intern, the role offers the opportunity to build experience in managing communication activities across teams and continue growing EuropaBio’s strong visibility. The varied role includes coordination of communications for EuropaBio advocacy and also campaigns in support of Biotech Week and European Forum for Industrial Biotechnology (EFIB), making use of digital content, social media, development of publications and relationships with the Brussels press.

The role includes:
• Provide communications support to EuropaBio Council teams and to the association as a whole
• Drafting and promotion of EuropaBio’s external newsletter and dedicated report launches
• Help prepare, organize and support EuropaBio’s online and physical meetings and events (Biotech Week, online webinars, etc)
• Collaborate with external event partner and Industrial Biotech team for the communications campaign for European Forum for Industrial Biotech (EFIB): running social media campaign, media partnerships and providing content for newsletter
• Draft press releases and liaise with journalist contacts through the year
• Prepare blog posts and other digital content in collaboration with EuropaBio teams
• Coordinate social media post development and posting calendar in coordination with teams
• Coordinate and produce visual materials including reports, social media cards, factsheets, etc.
• Website: coordinate maintenance with external agency, review, maintain and manage content
• Coordination of communications for new Members, including news release

Profile:
This role would suit somebody seeking to grow responsibility and leadership, building on existing professional experience within a dedicated communications position.
• A degree in communications or equivalent relevant qualification
• 2-3 years working experience, preferably with association positions
• Excellent writing and drafting skills (native English or equivalent), with other languages being a plus
• A passion for communication, strong communication skills including all new media channels and a general gift for engaging and connecting people
• Proactive approach to finding communication opportunities and developing impactful and engaging messaging
• Strong team working capability
• Current experience of online and social media management (LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram)
• Knowledge of WordPress, Adobe, Canva and Mailchimp
• A first experience in project management and event management
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines across teams
• A strong sense of personal responsibility for leading projects from start to conclusion and delivery, including budget management and supervision of external contractors.
• Excellent listening, diplomatic and consensus building skills
• A strong commitment to teamwork
• A clear hands-on drive to deliver multiple media communications work

Terms and conditions
