Healthcare Assistant | Healthcare Biotechnology Team

EuropaBio, the voice of Europe’s dynamic biotechnology industry, is currently seeking a motivated Healthcare Assistant to join the Healthcare Biotechnology Team for an initial contract period of 12 months, with a view to long-term professional development.

The successful candidate will be working closely with industry experts within a dynamic multinational team. This is an entry-level position, and aims to provide valuable insights, contacts and experience for candidates interested in policy development, strategy implementation and advocacy. In addition to working directly with our members, the role involves working with the EU institutions and various relevant stakeholders, such as patient organisations. This position will allow direct involvement in priority work areas for the EuropaBio Healthcare Biotechnology department (advanced therapies, medicines for paediatric and rare diseases, R&D policies, regulatory policy, data and digital policies, etc.) under the guidance of the other team members.

Profile
The successful candidate:
- Must have full permission to work in Belgium;
- Should hold a degree in EU affairs and/or public health, political sciences, law, science or other area relevant to Healthcare Biotechnology;
- Must have good organisation skills; a demonstrated interest in the healthcare industry is a plus;
- Should possess a good understanding of the European decision-making process;
- Must have a very high standard of both written and spoken English (office language);
- Should be able to begin as soon as possible (and by January 2022 at the latest).


Tasks
- Provide administrative support to the Healthcare Biotechnology team, including calendar management for team events and activities;
- Assist with essential support tasks for the Healthcare Biotechnology team, including internal and external communication (working with the EuropaBio Communications team), the organisation of events, the management of working group meetings, and drafting of minutes;
- Assist in researching and drafting Healthcare Biotechnology policy documents and position papers, such as responses to European Commission public consultations;
- Monitor and map developments and activities on healthcare and topics related to the biotechnology industry (e.g. in the political sphere at International, EU, and national level, and in the technological sphere analysing the advancement of biotechnology and enabling technologies);
- Actively engage in wider EuropaBio activities, representing Healthcare as part of Association growth and visibility;
- Attend and report on external events;

Senior Healthcare Manager | Healthcare Biotechnology Team

EuropaBio, the voice of Europe’s dynamic biotechnology industry, is currently seeking a motivated Senior Healthcare Manager to join the Healthcare Biotechnology Team for an indefinite period.

The successful candidate will be working closely with industry experts within a dynamic multinational team. This is a senior management position, with potential to grow further within EuropaBio, potentially to Director level. In addition to working directly with our members, the role involves working with the EU institutions and various relevant stakeholders, such as patient organisations, and also working closely with the healthcare team and EuropaBio staff. This position will allow direct involvement in priority work areas for the EuropaBio Healthcare Biotechnology department (advanced therapies, medicines for paediatric and rare diseases, R&D policies, regulatory policy, data and digital policies, etc.). The successful candidate will have a track record of leading and delivering visible and impactful projects. They will be proactive in helping to define EuropaBio’s future development and expansion as a leading voice for the strength of biotechnology in healthcare, working across the Association to ensure a voice to all stakeholders.

Profile
The successful candidate:
- Must have full permission to work in Belgium;
- Should hold a degree in EU affairs and/or public health, science, regulatory affairs, political sciences, law or other area relevant to Healthcare Biotechnology;
- Must have direct experience of working within the healthcare sector from an industrial perspective, either directly within a healthcare company of any size, or within a service provision/association capacity directly to industrial clients/members;
- Should have proven practical knowledge of European and/or national public affairs, advocacy and communications, acquired during at least 5 years working experience in industry, industry associations, in-house public affairs/corporate affairs departments or in public affairs consultancy firms, preferably with direct contact to European institutions;
- Should have a desire to grow into a leadership role through actively initiating and leading EuropaBio activities and representing the Association to potential Members;
- Must be a strong communicator and team player, able to work with EuropaBio teams to deliver high profile activities;
- Must have a very high standard of both written and spoken English (office language); knowledge of additional EU languages is a plus;
- Should be able to begin as soon as possible (and by January 2022 at the latest).

Tasks
- Develop and implement annual strategies and action plans for the Healthcare sector;
- Coordinate and manage EuropaBio’s Healthcare working groups (including OMPs, Procurement, Patient BioForum) together with the healthcare team;
- Lead and manage EuropaBio OMP regulation revision activities with Members;
- Develop a network of long-term relationships with stakeholders of relevance for EuropaBio’s field of activity as well as actively engaging EuropaBio’s members in identification of priorities plus development and delivery of impactful advocacy and other actions;
- Actively engage and represent Healthcare activities across EuropaBio, including the National Association and SME Platform, with joint working into wider association activities;
- Monitor and map developments and activities on healthcare and topics related to the biotechnology industry (e.g. in the political sphere at International, EU, and national level, and in the technological sphere analysing the advancement of biotechnology and enabling technologies);
- Proactively develop and lead representation of EuropaBio in European initiatives and key international, European, and national healthcare policy and regulatory meetings and events (e.g. EMA, speaking opportunities, etc.);
- Proactively contribute towards the expansion of EuropaBio Membership through liaison with potential Members, representation of EuropaBio and development of Membership offers and member onboarding.

Industrial Biotechnology Coordinator | Industrial Biotechnology Team

EuropaBio, the voice of Europe’s dynamic biotechnology industry, is currently seeking a motivated Industrial Biotechnology Coordinator to join the Industrial Biotechnology Team for a one-year contract, with the possibility of renewal.

Industrial biotechnology is used to develop new enzymes for industrial use, which can convert renewable raw materials (such as crops, or crop residues) into everyday products such as chemicals, plastics, fuels, textiles, cosmetics, or home care products. As such, the technology is central to developing a smarter, more sustainable circular bioeconomy, based on renewables. Industrial Biotech is one of Europe’s strengths in making a transition towards a more sustainable future.

The successful candidate will be working closely with industry experts within a dynamic multinational team. This role aims to provide valuable insights, contacts and experience for candidates interested in industry, circular bioeconomy, climate change and environmental issues. In addition to working directly with our members, the role also involves working with the EU institutions and relevant stakeholders across industry, research, policy, regulation and society.

Profile
The successful candidate:
- Must have full permission to work in Belgium;
- Should hold a degree in EU affairs and/or law, science relevant to biotechnology, regulatory affairs or other area relevant to Industrial Biotechnology;
- Should have awareness of EU Green Deal and its opportunities and challenges for innovation;
- Must have a very high standard of both written and spoken English (office language);
- Should possess an interest in and understanding of the European decision-making process and institutions, including regulatory agencies;
- Shall enjoy a strong team-based approach to work, within the Industrial Biotech Council and wider EuropaBio activities, including communications, the National Associations Council and SME Platform;
- Has an interest in the commercial perspective on biotech-derived sustainability, resource efficiency and the bioeconomy;
- Should be able to produce work of a high standard, to use initiative and to regularly report on progress;
- Must be able to begin in January 2022.

Tasks
- Work with the EuropaBio team and Members to identify policy and regulatory priorities for industrial biotechnology;
- Work with the Industrial Biotechnology (IB) Council and wider EuropaBio team to deliver Council activities, including meetings;
- Monitor various EFSA and other agency activities, including public consultations, publication of relevant documents, workshops, etc., preparing responses and engaging with members as relevant;
- Monitor EU activities linked to the EU Green Deal and associated initiatives (e.g. Taxonomy, Sustainable Food Systems) including public consultations, publication of relevant documents, workshops, etc., supporting the preparation of responses and engaging with members as relevant;
- Support engagement with associations in market-facing sectors of the value chain (e.g. food and feed) as part of our work around market creation measures & product uptake;
- Assist in researching and drafting industrial biotech policy documents;
- Assist with meeting organisation including preparation for working group and Council meetings and assist with the drafting of minutes and preparatory documents;
- Attend external events/webinars and prepare briefing notes;
- Work across EuropaBio to ensure effective external communication of Industrial Biotech Council activities and to stakeholders through the SME Platform and National Associations Council.
