INDUSTRIAL BIOTECHNOLOGY COUNCIL

Food, Feed & Nutrition

Sustainability permeates all factors of life – from industrial processes right down to the food we eat. New innovative technologies are providing increasingly more sustainable ways of producing food and feed for humans and animals, matching growing consumer interest and demand.

Industrial biotechnology has long been a key player in providing sustainable ingredients for food and feed use, such as vitamins, amino acids, organic acids, oligosaccharides, flavourings, and enzymes. Now its scope is expanding i.e. to alternative proteins, through new resources (such plants, insects, or algae) and new technologies (cellular agriculture/cultured animal products).

EuropaBio works to promote sustainability at all levels of the food chain through adapted regulatory and policy frameworks and market access strategies.
