Court censures Brussels over GM licence delay

The Court of Justice of the EU has ruled against the European Commission in a case that could pave the way for the licensing of a new GM maize variety.
The commission failed in its duties by not submitting to member states a proposal to authorise DuPont Pioneer’s insect-resistant maize 1507, the court has said.
Lawyers are examining Thursday's court judgment to decide what the commission should do next, a spokesman for the health department commented.
