18.03.2014

On 18-19 February, EuropaBio organised a workshop in Brussels on scientific aspects of comparative assessments for GM plants and their use in risk assessment. The objective of the workshop was to provide a platform where industry, independent scientists, European regulators (EFSA and Member States) and risk managers (EC and Member States) can discuss the scientific aspects of comparative assessments and to achieve a common understanding among stakeholders on the requirements for comparative risk assessment. The following topics were discussed:

-        Session I: Using the comparative analysis for food and feed safety assessments in the EU and other parts of the world

-        Session II: Methodology used in the comparative analysis and interpretation of results. Implications for food and feed safety assessments.

-        Session III: Unintended effects assessment using the comparative approach
