Enduro Genetics joins EuropaBio: Improving Bioproduction at Scale

06/01/2025

PRESS RELEASE

Brussels, 6 January 2024 - EuropaBio, is pleased to announce that Enduro Genetics has joined the association.

Based in Copenhagen, Denmark, Enduro is a biotech startup that is committed to improving large scale fermentations. By applying game-changing synthetic biology technology, Enduro empowers their partner companies to unleash the full potential of their large-scale fermentation processes. Through an elegant synthetic biology solution Enduro ‘addicts’ cells to high productivity and thereby increase competitiveness of current and future green bioproduction.

Enduro’s proprietary platform, Enduro Sense™, improves large scale fermentations allowing products to be brought to market both cheaper and faster. Their platform achieves this by decreasing fermentation population heterogeneity as high-producing cells will dominate the bioreactor. Enduro’s technology aims to enable a new wave of biotech production with Europe as the centre of industrialisation.

In joining EuropaBio, Enduro brings their expertise as a company with technology that can be applied across all sectors, from alternative proteins, to pharmaceuticals, to bio-chemicals and to everything in between. They hope to contribute to the bioeconomy ecosystem in Europe and beyond, while interacting with varied stakeholders to raise awareness of the potential of their technology.

Dr. Claire Skentelbery, Director General of EuropaBio had this to say, “Enduro is another example of the excellence emerging through Europe’s innovative SMEs for economic growth through biotechnology. We are delighted to bring their voice into the conversation around the Biotech Act and other legislations that will define the future of Europe.”

Christian Munch, CEO at Enduro Genetics added, "We are excited to join EuropaBio under their SME Platform as associated member. EuropaBio is a leading industry voice for progressing the development of biotechnology-based solutions for the benefit of the industry and the population in Europe, and we look forward to contributing to EuropaBio’s on advancing the biotechnology industry in Europe.”

Vitamin B2

The biomanufacturing of Vitamin B2 led to the reduction of 75% of fossil raw materials and 50% operating costs, compared to the chemical process. Vitamin B2 is used in the food, feed or healthcare sectors.

Insulin

Insulin is one of the most widely known biopharmaceutical. Biotechnology revolutionised its manufacturing process and led to the development of new types of insulin through r-DNA technology.

Detergents

Enzymes and biosurfactancts are alternative ingredients that improve the performance of detergents, while leading to water and energy savings and reductions in CO2 emissions and water toxicity.

Clothes

Clothes made from alternative fibres produced by microorganisms can be 8x stronger than steel, 100% recyclable, biodegradable and replace fossil-fuel based or resource-intensive textiles.

Algal Omega 3

Algal Omega-3 is an innovative feed product for aquaculture. It reduces the impact on climate change by 30-40% compared to fish oil and saves 60 tons of wild fish for every ton of Algal Omega-3 used.

Cheese

Cheese is a vegetarian product thanks to biotechnology. Biotechnology is also essential to produce lactose- or cholesterol-free cheese, as well as alternative proteins.
