2026 has been a defining year for biotechnology in Europe, with the EU Biotech Act moving forward and biotechnology taking a more prominent place in Europe's competitiveness, health and sustainability agenda.

In this report, we look back on a year of advocacy, collaboration and growth across healthcare biotechnology, industrial biotechnology, biomanufacturing and Europe's innovation ecosystem. We also reflect on the progress made alongside our members, partners and policymakers to help strengthen Europe's biotech future.
