21/04/2021
PRESS RELEASE

Health and Life Sciences Cluster Bulgaria joins EuropaBio

Brussels, 21 April 2021 – EuropaBio is pleased to announce that the Health and Life Sciences Cluster Bulgaria has joined as a National Association.

The Cluster represents a growing biotechnology community within Bulgaria, across all sectors and reflects a growing national competence in AI, with the ’AI Cluster Bulgaria’, part of a borderless AI Initiative with Austria, Sweden, Serbia and the UK.

In joining EuropaBio and becoming part of the National Associations Council, the Cluster aims to help lead initiatives for AI in biotechnology as well as benefitting from the EuropaBio community to help build Bulgaria’s first Bioethical Hub for translational medicine.

EuropaBio Director-General Dr. Claire Skentelbery commented “It is excellent for EuropaBio to learn from, and support, countries such as Bulgaria in the development of their biotechnology industries. We are very much looking forward to their active participation across all our activities.”

Kristina Eskenazi, Chair of the Managing Board, added “Bulgaria has strongly growing economic activity from biotechnology, and our focus on technologies such as AI allows us to grow the skills and international partnerships needed to lead Europe in enabling biotech growth.”
