Japan: Bioeconomy Strategy Featuring Points

Italy, July 2021 - During a G20 OECD-BNCT Workshop focused on Bioeconomy in the OECD countries, the Japanese Secretariat of Science, Technology and Innovation Policy shared a presentation highlighting the main points of their Bioeconomy Strategy with targets for the year 2030. Among these objectives is to advance and grow the market to 92 trillion yen. Specifically, there are targets to grow biomanufacturing, namely biomaterials and bioplastics, to 53.3 trillion yen and in healthcare, namely biopharmacy, regenerative medicine, cell therapy, and gene therapy to 36.3 trillion yen.
