UK, July 2021 - UK Innovation Strategy: Leading the future by creating it, is a policy paper authored by the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy of the UK Government, that "sets out the government’s vision to make the UK a global hub for innovation by 2035".

Within the seven technology families identified as of UK strength and opportunity, biomanufacturing is mentioned in the Engineering Biology section. Specifically, it is referred as the solution to deliver bio-based and waste-derived alternatives to replace fossil-derived fuels or plastics in 80% of the cases by 2035.
