Marije Laffeber joins EuropaBio as Director of Industrial Biotechnology

Brussels, 1 September 2026 - EuropaBio is pleased to announce that Marije Laffeber has joined its senior leadership team as Director of Industrial Biotechnology. EuropaBio is the leading voice for biotechnology in Europe.
Marije brings more than 25 years of experience at the intersection of politics, policy and business. She has held senior roles across European and international public affairs, working with political leaders, policymakers, Commissioners and MEPs on issues ranging from regulation and geopolitical strategy to risk management and stakeholder engagement.
Her previous roles include Deputy Secretary General of the Party of European Socialists, International Secretary and Vice Chair for European Affairs of the Dutch Labour Party, Managing Director of Rud Pedersen Public Affairs Netherlands, and advisor to international democracy and governance programmes.
Marije joins EuropaBio at a pivotal moment for European biotechnology, as innovative companies, world-class universities and research organisations work together to translate scientific excellence into industrial leadership, sustainable growth and strategic resilience for Europe.
